This annual conference was virtually held through Zoom on 12-13 July 2021, and was hosted by the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada in collaboration with IRSA.

Welcome to “Reform Unreformed”, a collaboration of Papan Tulis podcast and RISE Program in Indonesia. In “Reform Unreformed”, RISE researchers will discuss areas in the Indonesian education system that need to be reformed to improve student learning.
We develop this observation instrument to describe and investigate teaching practices of primary and secondary school teachers. The design of our instrument is drawn upon aspects of teaching from two national teacher evaluations and selected international observation instruments.
RISE Programme researcher Shintia Revina was appointed a speaker in the "Educating the Nation: 2020-2045" webinar organized by The Jakarta Post. In the discussion, Shintia discussed the efforts and challenges in improving the quality of Indonesian teachers.

To evaluate how well particular education policies help schools conduct better learning, we develop Comprehensive Reading and Mathematics Assessment Tool (CERMAT), a student learning assessment (SLA) tool that can assess specifically the reading and mathematics skills of students in Grades 1–9.

Therefore, it is important to understand the challenges that teachers in Indonesia are facing today in developing their competencies, as well as the efforts to overcome those challenges.
