The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, who opened RISE Programme in Indonesia's Webinar on Tuesday, 13 July 2021, gave an appreciation to the efforts made by RISE as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s partner in encouraging policy research in the field of education.
"Research plays a great role as the basis for formulating public policies that can meet the people’s needs today and help prepare for future challenges. I greatly appreciate the efforts made by RISE as the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology’s partner in encouraging policy research in the field of education. I believe the four RISE studies that will be presented today will help the Ministry and local education agencies evaluate the policies that have been implemented. The results of the evaluation will serve as a guide for the formulation of more targeted regulations and policies."

On the opening of the webinar titled “Investigating Districts’ Responses toward Decentralised Education”, he mentioned that research at the regional level is also in line with the idea of decentralization and autonomy in education, which is the essence of the Freedom to Learn. He also hopes that RISE Programme’s research can continue, and even be further amplified to support the realization of the Freedom to Learn as a solution policy for Indonesia’s education.
Since its launch in 2017, the RISE Programme in Indonesia—with support from the Agency for Research and Development and Book Affair of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology—has conducted research activities at the central and regional levels. The results of these studies are expected to give input for making educational policies that have an impact on improving student learning.
