The Ministry of Education Uses RISE Studies as a Reference in Developing "Merdeka Belajar"

The Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Nadiem Anwar Makarim, who opened RISE Workshop "Fighting Learning Crisis, Building Foundational Skills" on Tuesday, 2 August 2022, said that the presence of The SMERU Research Institute and RISE Programme are essential to provide objective views and input on the breakthroughs of Merdeka Belajar.

".. I appreciate the intensive research that SMERU has undertaken through Research on Improving Systems of Education or RISE. It is a true work, the results of which we can use as a reference for developing Merdeka Belajar in the future."

The minister also hopes that there will be other research programmes that will produce innovative solutions that we can apply as breakthroughs for Merdeka Belajar.

RISE Programme in Indonesia is managed by The SMERU Research Institute, in partnership with the Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD) and Mathematica. In the final year of the programme, RISE Indonesia held a workshop on "Fighting Learning Crisis, Building Foundational Skills". In this event, RISE researchers presented results RISE studies related to learning crisis and how building foundational skills in students can be one of the answers to fight learning crisis.
